Alissa Quart /

Alissa Quart is the author of two non-fiction books, including Branded: The Buying and Selling of Teenagers, and is a contributing writer for Mother Jones and Columbia Journalism Review. She also writes for The New York Times Magazine and many other publications, as well as teaching at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She is currently writing her third book, about American mavericks, for FSG.
