Tim Hirsch /

Tim Hirsch reported for BBC with no particular interest in things green until the 1997 Kyoto conference. Watching interplay among geopolitics, economics, and earth sciences, he was hooked. After nine years as BBC environment correspondent, he based himself as a freelance near Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, where birds, trees, insects, and people interact out his door. Hirsch was consultant to the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment.
