Provence Workshop

Portraiture and Landscapes with Gary Knight of VII and Philip Blenkinsop of NOOR

date:
September 7th-13th, 2008, 5 days 6 nights
description:

Two groups of eight to work with Gary and Philip. Your subject will be portraiture and landscape. Nearly 150 years after Van Gogh and Cezanne recognized the value of painting in the open air here the light in Provence is still seductive. Rise early to capture Mont Saint Victoire at dawn, take in the big blue skies above the windswept marshes in the Camargue or work on a series of Industrial Landscapes around the Berre l’Etang. There are plenty of interesting, quirky characters as portrait studies: take a walk along the Marseille dockside when the morning catch is landed, or check out the groups making their living from the cowboy culture on the ranches in western Provence. Each student will leave with a portfolio print from Gary’s studio from a Canon IPF 6100

price:
€1,450 plus accommodation, residential; breakfast and dinner included

Accommodation and Meals

A little luxury…The workshops are not just an opportunity to work with the best. They’re taking place in a beautifully renovated 17th century stone olive oil mill set amongst vineyards and lavender fields. The Moulin is a high end vacation rental property so expect to enjoy the swimming pool, or a walk along an ancient Roman Road through the Provencal Landscape before relaxing with a glass of wine on the terrace. Dinner is cooked by a local chef who takes his inspiration from the fantastic produce around him. This will not be a canteen experience!

Because this is a home, not a hotel, the rooms, vary in size and comfort levels (and price) so please book your room when you register. The rooms at the Moulin are limited. Other rooms are available in local Chambre d’Hote accommodation.
